The Dr. Albert B. Cleage, Sr. Memorial Health Center depends upon the generosity of our supporters to continue the desperately needed services that we provide to our community. Since May 2005, our clinic has been able to provide state-of-the art health care services with an annual budget of less than $8,000. Our primary supporters have been the Michigan Department of Community Health (MDCH), our patients and members of the congregation of The Shrines of the Black Madonna.
In December 2010, the Dr. Albert B. Cleage, Sr. MHC became a recipient of a Safety Net 2011 grant from the Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Michigan Foundation. We have been honored with a Safety Net 2012 grant as well, which will allow us to continue serving uninsured Detroiters. We can now provide free lab services and transportation to those who qualify, ensuring even greater comprehensive health care to those who need it most.
In January 2012 the Detroit Department of Health closed their (Herman Keifer) health clinic and pharmacy. Many of the patients displaced by the closing of Herman Keifer had depended on them for free health care for most of their lives. These patients are now flooding our clinic with calls and we are taking them on; still able to schedule patients for appointments within two weeks. With your help we will continue to provide life-saving services to our community; so please send a donation today!
What Your Donations Will Help Fund (includes but not limited to):
- Free laboratory services to all of our patients (this is a constant concern for our patients, despite our discounted rates.)
- Transportation costs (bus passes) for patients who would otherwise be unable to make scheduled appointments.
- Development of new patient programs and services.
- Free Medications for patients as needed (many patients cannot afford the discounted cost if they have many medications.)
